The itinerary also includes a stop in the historic industrial area, witness to the first boric acid extractions from the thermal waters in the early 1800s. The adventure begins at Lagone Cerchiaio, an emblematic place where, in 1777, Hubert Francesco Hoefer, court pharmacist, first discovered traces of boric acid in the geothermal springs.

Along the way, it is possible to be amazed by unique natural spectacles: vapors emerging elegantly from rock crevices, boiling water gushing from underground, and an extraordinary play of colors ranging from bright red to yellow ochre to brilliant white.
