Cala Violina is a true natural paradise that leaves you breathless.
It is nestled in the beautiful Bandite di Scarlino Nature Reserve. This little gem is a cove of candid sand and crystal clear emerald waters, set between two headlands: Punta Martina to the north, which separates it from neighboring Cala Martina, and Punta Le Canne to the south.
Its cozy and quiet atmosphere, with no bathing establishments, makes it a perfect destination for those seeking relaxation and harmony with nature. During the summer, a modest refreshment stand is available to visitors with cool drinks and sandwiches. For those who prefer to bring their lunch from home, there is a lush pine forest behind the beach with wooden tables and benches that provide shelter from the sun. This verdant area helps create an even more attractive setting for a day at the beach. To preserve Cala Violina’s exceptional natural heritage, beach access is limited to 700 people per day.
This ensures not only an exclusive experience for visitors but also the preservation of one of the most beautiful places on the Tuscan coast. Reservation is mandatory during the summer months and can be made directly on the official website www.calaviolinascarlino.it, at the symbolic cost of 1 euro for adults. Children aged 12 months to 12 years need only a reservation without a fee, while those under 12 months gain free access without any formalities. It is important to remember some key rules: tickets are not refundable, reservations can not be changed or moved, and can be made up to 72 hours before the visit. An additional detail to keep in mind is that dogs are not allowed on the beach
Reaching Cala Violina is part of its charm. The most scenic route departs from Puntone di Scarlino along Trail No. 1, a route immersed in Mediterranean scrub that offers wonderful views of the gulf. It is about 4 kilometers, which can be covered in an hour on foot or by bicycle, passing through nearby Cala Francese and Cala Martina, good alternatives for those who cannot book access to Cala Violina. For those who prefer faster options, we recommend reaching the Pian d’Alma parking lot, located along Provincial Road 158 delle Collacchie. From there, a short stretch of dirt road leads to the main parking lot. However, a walk of about 2 kilometers through the pine forest remains necessary before reaching the beach. In either case, the use of comfortable shoes is strongly recommended.
